About the Theme
Strengthening Catholic Families
through School-Based Pastoral Programs
The theme of this year’s Philippine Catholic Educators Congress, “Strengthening Catholic Families through School-Based Pastoral Programs,” emphasizes the crucial role that Catholic schools play in reinforcing the family as the cornerstone of both faith and society. In a time when families face numerous challenges, this theme calls on schools to deepen and expand pastoral programs that not only support students but also involve and uplift families in living out their Catholic faith. The following talks will explore this theme:
Harmony at Home and School: Cultivating Reason, Faith, and Compassion for Jubilee 2025
This session integrates Don Bosco’s Preventive System with the transformative goals of Jubilee Year 2025, focusing on the renewal, hope, and unity needed in both homes and schools. The discussion will highlight the importance of revitalizing educational and familial practices, building a culture of hope, and fostering stronger collaboration between parents and educators.
To Know, To Love, and To Dream
Drawing inspiration from Pope Francis’ teachings, this talk emphasizes how the essentials of knowledge, love, and hope can shape Catholic education and family life. It will discuss how families can live their faith, guiding their children to embody these values, and cultivate a hopeful, faith-driven future.
Educating Parents: The Hidden Curriculum in Schools
This session will examine the hidden curriculum—those lessons beyond the formal curriculum— and the way schools can infl uence parents through programs and interactions. By actively engaging with families, schools can enrich both students’ growth and family life, fostering deeper community ties.
Case Presentation: “Home-School Collaboration in Evangelizing the Family”
This presentation will provide real-world examples of how schools can involve parents in pastoral programs, sacramental preparation, and faith-based activities. It will illustrate how such collaboration strengthens Catholic family life and extends faith formation beyond the classroom.
These talks aim to provide actionable insights and strategies to strengthen the collaboration between home, school, and the Church, supporting the faith development of both students and their families.
